COMMUNITY / ONLINE EVENT
Thursday, September 24, 2020 | 7PM – 9PM
TypeThursdayLA is a monthly meetup for people who love letter forms or are interested in learning more about Typography.
This Month We’re Fundraising for Black Lives Matter
By purchasing a donation ticket you donate and support equality for all! 100% of the funds raised will be donated to Black Lives Matter, because we believe that diversity makes a better world for everyone.
Join us for our fun TypeHangout and TypeCrit session where you participate by offering feedback to presenters, or submit work and get feedback from our audience of TypeLovers.
This month meet our honored guest, Robert Fisher, Production Designer at Taco Bell. Robert will be sharing their Playing with your food series, which recreates familiar letter forms with your fav foods from the Taco Bell menu.
Special Gift When you Donate $25 or More
When you donate $25 or more, you’ll receive a free gift in the mail from our event partner Taco Bell. So Grab your ticket today and let’s talk about type!
Bring your favorite beverages, and snacks, we’re gonna be playing music and kicking off with our informal hang out starting at 7 PM, followed by a TypeCrit and fun breakout sessions that go until 9 PM.
SHARE YOUR WORK
To present projects, submit your files before the TypeThursday event through this form. Your work, if accepted, will be projected onto the wall and the group will help improve your typography!
Please do not show any work that is covered under contracts or NDAs, as your presentation will be photographed and shown to the group.
PARTNERS & SPONSORS
TypeThursdayLA is made possible by our generous sponsors:
— Global Partner Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography
— AIGA Los Angeles
— General Assembly
A special note from our sponsors at Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography at ArtCenter College of Design:
The Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography provides the tools for community members to celebrate and investigate the evolution of typography’s role in all forms of communication.
Am I required to show work?
No, but you’re welcome to come and learn. We do encourage participating in the critiques and asking questions that would benefit the presenters and the community.
I want to present work! What can I present at the event?
Bring your work-in-progress projects that are typographic in nature or utilize type in some fashion. Anything where graphic designers can help you. Some examples:
- UI/UX: An App or Site that utilizes typographic elements
- Lettering: Sketches and directions for a lettering assignment
- Typeface: Proofs showcasing large renders of the letters, spacing proofs, etc.
- Layout: Multi-page compositions that handle large areas of type
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
