Estimating and pricing a project is as much an art as it is a science. All designers struggle with pricing, from those just starting out to seasoned veterans. We'll talk to designers in various fields and different walks of life to learn more about this mysterious art. How does one begin? What are the distinctive types and levels of projects? How does cut-rate pricing affect the industry as a whole?

About the Moderator

Terry Lee Stone, terryleestone.com
Terry Lee Stone, is a writer, design management consultant, and creative strategist. She teaches the business of design at Art Center College of Design and at Lynda.com and has taught Professional Practice at CalArts and Otis College of Art. Stone is the author of several books, including the Managing The Design Process series, and also writes for HOW, Communication Arts, and Felt & Wire. She has presented lectures to numerous creative organizations, including AIGA, the Art Directors Club of New York and the HOW Design Live Conference. Stone is the co-author of the cookbook Booze Cakes, proving that she isn’t all business all the time.

Chris Do, Founder and Executive Creative Director of Blind
Chris Do is the Founder and Executive Creative Director of two-time, Emmy-award winning, digital design studio, Blind Inc. He serves on the board for Otis, Emmys Motion Title Design Peer Group, AIGA LA, Santa Monica College, Saleshood, Woodbury University, is the executive producer and co-host of The Skool series "The Business of Design" and has taught at Otis College of Design and Sequential Design at Art Center College of Design for over 10 years.

Ann Enkoji, Founder/CEO of Atmo
Ann is a marketing consultant with more than 15 years of experience in design. She began her career working with Charles and Ray Eames before becoming an exhibiting ceramic artist in Berkeley. She later worked with Stanley Moss in New York, and then became a retail arts & crafts buyer in Singapore before returning to the U.S. to continue her design career. In 1998 Ann started her Los Angeles-based consultancy, atmo, to provide resources for businesses that base their revenue on their creativity.

Daniel Norman, Founder of Design Helm
Daniel has collaborated with architects, interior designers, strategists, web developers, copywriters, CEOs and CMOs to deliver robust, multidimensional solutions across various touch points. In 2010, he founded Design Helm to craft authentic brand experiences, compelling stories, and design solutions for organizations.

Skot Carruth, Managing Partner of Philosophie
Skot started his first e-commerce business in 1997, and consulted for small businesses throughout high school and college. After a brief stint in investment banking, he came back to his digital roots to co-found Philosophie. He currently heads up User Experience Strategy at Philosophie, where he and his team create awesome experiences.
