Join us for Design in Health, a partnership between Evenings at the Loft and Health 2.0 Los Angeles. Our quarterly series will explore the relationship between health and design, with the aim to bring together all types of practitioners.
We welcome professionals from all fields and disciplines contributing to health and wellness in Los Angeles by coming together, exploring meaningful topics, and building a community that moves our field forward. We also welcome curious designers interested in how to contribute to this important and evolving field, in need of human-centered practices that benefit our health and wellbeing.
Our format consists of four lightning talks, cocktails and tasty treats.

We kick off our first event with a variety of design researchers; looking at the field from different perspectives.
Your hosts of the night are Health 2.0 Los Angeles organizer, Jessica Santana, and Kluge Interactive CEO, Arturo Perez, who will give an overall introduction to the design in health landscape in Los Angeles and introduce our amazing speakers.
Rachel Carmen Ceasar, PhD, Culture of Health + Tech Consulting
Rachel Carmen Ceasar, PhD is a medical anthropologist, educator, and the founder of Culture of Health+Tech Consulting. Her research has examined the redesign of clinical information needs, AI symptom checkers, and opioid prescribing in the safety net.
Susan Williams, Agency Other
Susan Williams, MA, is an anthropologist, strategist, and founder of Agency Other, a progressive research and communications firm. She employs resources from anthropology and design thinking to understand what matters most to people in their everyday lives. Currently, Susan is focused on how information is organized, accessed, and used in the contexts of design and healthcare.
Jessica (Zuchowski) Moreau, Research Health Scientist, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs
Jessica Moreau, PhD, MPH, is a medical anthropologist and health services research scientist at the VA HSR&D Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation and Policy (CSHIIP) in Los Angeles. Her current research focuses on women’s health and rapid qualitative methods.
Janis Martman, Research Scientist & Priya Nayak, Senior Design Researcher, Headspace
Janis and Priya work at Headspace, a popular meditation app for beginners & experienced meditators alike. Janis leads programs of mixed-method research to guide product and content development, and advises design teams on methods and applications of digital behaviour change. Priya uses qualitative research methods like in-depth interviews, diary studies, and surveys, and digs into the deeper needs, goals, motivations, and challenges of people who hope to benefit from a regular meditation practice. They are both passionate about establishing a deeper collaboration between the Product and Science teams at Headspace.
