They called us crazy. They said it couldn’t be done. “Well,” we said, “we believe in the power of good.” AIGA Los Angeles, along with Hub LA and Taproot Foundation present Design for Good LA 2013: 24-Hour Design Blitz. We’re calling on local creative professionals to lend their skills to help promote design thinking while doing good at the same time. Over the course of 24 hours, five teams of professional creatives will collaborate to develop creative solutions for five local non-profits, selected by Taproot Foundation and chosen based on need by the AIGA Los Angeles Board of Directors and Event Programming Committee.
Design teams will be evenly mixed with different experience levels per group to encourage varying perspectives and mentorship/learning, and each team will have a senior design leader to help guide the team. Design for Good LA (DfGLA) provides an opportunity for creatives to build their skills and network while promoting the power of design thinking in a highly visible way.

Design for Good LA 2013 is open to all working professional creatives—graphic designers, illustrators, interactive experts, copywriters, photographers. Creatives can sign up to participate by filling out our online application, but hurry, there are only 30 spots available. Participants will be chosen based on application order and the requirements of the non-profit organizations’ project briefs, and will be announced on October 11.
Breakfasts, lunch, snacks, and plenty of coffee will be provided.
This event is B.Y.O.P. (Bring Your Own Pillow)
The Wrap Party is the second part of the event and takes place the weekend of Nov. 8-9. At a location still to be announced, we will celebrate the completion of the blitz where design teams and nonprofit partners will have the opportunity to present their projects.
