Contestants, DJ, MC and Judges announced for Shutterstock’s Pixels of Fury Competition

(Editor’s Note: A recap of the Shutterstock’s Pixels of Fury competition is available on Shutterstock’s website here. Big thank you to our volunteer photographer Rhoel Paghunasan for taking the action shot photos in their post.)

AIGA Los Angeles has announced its four competing teams, two judges, MC, and DJ for the upcoming Winter Wonderland featuring Shutterstock’s Pixels of Fury Competition. These four teams are made up of a pair of designers each, and feature top agencies and schools in Los Angeles. In no particular order the competing teams:

From AdamsMorioka: Team A/OK – @AdamsMorioka
Monica Schaug – Creative Director
Nathan Stock – Senior Designer
Monica and Nathan have some weight on their shoulders representing Noreen and Sean’s agency, but that’s a story that is “A/OK” with them.

From Blind: Team Blind – @BlindLA
Greg Gunn – Creative Director – @grgnn
Reza Rasoli – Creative Director – @rezatron
The previous 2/3rd’s of the multidisciplinary directing collective, Three Legged Legs, Greg and Reza have been creating and designing together since design school days.

From Looking: Team Looking – @LookingLA
Clay Cooper – Graphic Designer – @ClayCooperD
Dan Hanasono – Graphic Designer – @danvalanche
Clay and Dan live in the interwebs and are zen-like in their appreciation of open source communities, but serve up a tournament like this and they come to the table “Looking” for a win.

From the Roski School of Fine Arts: Team USC AIGA Student Chapter
Kimberly Morris – @kayeyeemme
Christina Scamporrino
Our wildcard competitors, Kimberly and Christina come from the AIGA student chapter at USC, which some say makes them the underdogs. They are ready to prove otherwise.

MC
Noreen Morioka – @noreenmorioka
Our Los Angeles Chapter president will graciously be serving as MC for the Pixels of Fury portion of the event.

Judges
Andrew Gibbs – Founder & Editor in Chief, The Dieline – @thedieline
Jon Setzen – Creative Director, Media Temple & host of CreativeMornings Los Angeles – @jonsetzen

The Competition
Competition will take place in 20 minute rounds, where two teams will face-off creating a poster on the spot to “inspire the audience to action.” Each team will build a poster from scratch with a few Shutterstock images and a topic of their choosing.

Each round will be voted on by our esteemed judges as well as audience voting. The top two winners will compete in a 2nd 20 minute round with the winners taking away prizes and the coveted crystal Pixel of Fury! There will be twists and turns along the way, so find your favorite team and cheer them on!

DJ
Our event will also feature the DJ skills of Bobby Duran aka DJ Bobbito the Chef – @bobbitothechef
Yes, designers, this means that dancing is encouraged.

Those of you that are inclined more to chat and dance, we will be having tunes spun by DJ Bobbito the Chef throughout the evening.

Be sure to follow the action by following @aigalosangeles, #AIGALAWW, and #PixelsofFury on Wednesday December 12th starting at 7pm for live coverage of the competition.

Special thanks to our main sponsor Shutterstock as well as our wine sponsor Apothic Wines, for helping to make our evening a special event.

Reminder that in August there was a change in the membership structure for AIGA. Now starting as low as $50 per year, you can become a member of the Los Angeles Chapter of the largest professional association for design in North America. Visit aiga.org/belong for more info.
