Why is LA often overlooked as a crucial city of design? Born and raised in Los Angeles, graphic designer Lawrence Azerrad will try to answer that question by taking us on a quick spin through his take on the history of our town’s creative thinkers, their iconic work, and the mark they left on our global society. We’ll also take a look at some design work from his studio LADdesign, listen to some funny stories about creating album covers with rockstars Red Hot Chili Peppers and observe his sixteen-year client relationship with the award-winning American alternative rock band, Wilco, spanning seven album packages and countless show posters. The evening wraps with a glimpse of his passion project, a design history of The Concorde, the world’s only luxury supersonic aircraft. Limited edition silkscreen posters from the Concorde project will be available for sale at the event.

About Lawrence Azerrad
Lawrence founded the independent graphic design studio LADdesign in 2001. Creating graphic design and comprehensive visual identity systems for clients such as The Clinton Foundation, The Beach Boys, UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, Heal The Bay, Oliver Peoples Eyewear, and House of Waris for Forevermark Diamonds. Prior to opening LADdesign, he worked as an art director at Warner Bros Records, creating packaging and artwork for artists ranging from Miles Davis, to Adam Sandler and Clint Eastwood. He has taught Graphic Design at Art Center College of Design, and The Academy of Art University, San Francisco.
