2022 AIGA LA Board of Directors Slate Ratification

AIGA LA is pleased to recommend for your consideration the following slate of candidates for the 2022–2024 Board of Directors. If elected, each nominee will serve a two-year term. The slate is afforded an up or down vote, as a whole. A majority of the votes cast will determine the vote. Only current members of AIGA Los Angeles are permitted to vote, your membership number will be required. Please note, the lack of a vote is counted as a ‘yes’ vote. Our goal is to inform you as to the potential new board members. Please see below for the each candidates’ biography.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITIONS

PRESIDENT
Sam CabreraSam Cabrera

Sam Cabrera (she/her) is an award-winning experience designer, educator, and community-leader based in Los Angeles. Sam works closely with her clients to solve complex challenges and lead cross-disciplinary teams to create meaningful experiences for brands such as Neiman Marcus, Riot Games, MGM Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, Bright Horizons, ByHeart, HyundaiCard, and Patient Pattern. An advocate for ethics and inclusive design practices, Sam believes that designers have a unique position to create a more equitable world that helps both business and all people thrive.

Sam has served as a member and volunteer of the chapter since 2010. Her first term as President was as AIGA LA’s first Latina, woman of color President.

TREASURER
Courtnie CotilloCourtnie Cotillo

Courtnie Cotillo is a driven leader with a demonstrated history of working in the marketing and advertising industry. Additional skills include accounting, financial accumen & reporting, P&L management, digital strategy, marketing leadership, digital marketing, and resource management. Some notable brands she has worked with include Hulu, Amazon, Cisco, FX Networks, Primrose Schools, Insomniac, VIZIO, Riot Games, Hasbro, Disney, Alienware, Microsoft, Adobe, and Activision. Courtnie holds a Bachelor of Science degree focused in Business Administration, Managment & International Business from Mount Saint Mary’s University and has recently received her Executive MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management. She is currently the Head Of Program Management, Global Marketing at Uber.

She is an avid fan of all things flamingo and loves to spend quality time with her family.

CONTENT DIRECTOR
Laura Tu WilliamsLaura Tu Williams

Laura Tu Williams is a career-driven creative entrepreneur in product marketing, visual communications and holistic branding, who is a professional in developing compelling content for a national audience. She has 15 years of industry knowledge across multiple disciplines; both in print and digital design. In addition to her formal education in Graphic Design from California State University, Los Angeles, Laura is also a self-taught artist in sign painting, murals and hand-lettering. She works hard every day to be a better communicator, writer and storyteller to bring impactful experiences to life. As a long-time volunteer for AIGA, she is passionate about making meaningful connections, being a supportive mentor to emerging design students and dedicating time to proactively advocate for building her design community on a local and global level.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Kim SennKim Senn

With a long track record in the design and mobile industries, Kim has created branded mobile portfolios, digital content, and print design for some of today’s biggest brands, such as Disney, BMW, MINI USA, NHL, Food Network, and Family Guy. Currently Head of Design for CitrusBits, Kim leads a team of UX/UI designers to create best-in-class digital products. Previously, Kim was an entrepreneur and founder of her own design firm for over a decade, an executive at Disney Internet, and SVP of Product for an early mobile development agency. Creative and curious, with high standards for excellence, Kim blends business savvy with design expertise to lead creative teams in crafting impeccably designed products with quality, elegance, and ease.

Fun facts: As a woman veteran, Kim defies military stereotypes and inspires gender equality. She is a huge animal lover, has lived in three countries, is an unabashed typophile, and loves making handcrafted, artisan soaps in her free time.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION (DEI) DIRECTOR
Marijose Martinez CuellarMarijose Martinez Cuellar

Marijose “Mari” Martinez Cuellar was born and raised in a town near Mexico City called Texcoco. In 2013, she moved to Los Angeles and was able to call it her second home. Mari recently graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BFA in Visual Communication Design with a minor in Computer Information Systems. She is passionate about developing meaningful messages through visual design and aspires to create accessible, straightforward, and innovative designs.

EDUCATION DIRECTOR
Jennifer McMillanJennifer McMillan

Jennifer McMillan is a professor, graphic designer, content creator, and social media strategist. Currently, she works as an instructor at Cal Poly Pomona and Santa Ana College and teaches courses in typography, motion graphics, and graphic design principles.

Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Southern California and is driven by her passion for using her gifts and talents to make the world a better place.
