2017 AIGA LA Board of Directors Call For Nominations

We invite you to participate in open nominations for our 2017 Board of Directors.

Extended nomination deadline: Monday, May 15, 2017.

The AIGA LA Board of Directors meets monthly to report on and determine chapter activities. AIGA board members are elected by the entire membership and serve two-year terms.

All submissions will be presented to the 2017 Nominating Committee (listed below), which will meet and determine a recommended slate of directors to present to the membership-at-large for approval.

Nominees need not be an AIGA member at the time of nomination, but will be required to join AIGA at the Supporter level if elected to a board position.

Self-nominations are welcomed, and encouraged.

Position Descriptions

Secretary
Ensures that official board business is conducted efficiently and correctly, creating new processes to help streamline chapter affairs. Part of the executive committee of the chapter.

Event Director
Oversees the planning and implementation of the annual events calendar, directly managing the chapter’s Event Co-Directors.

Event Co-Directors
Oversees specific events, ensuring their production is on-schedule, on-budget, and that proper speakers are located and booked. Directly managers event volunteers.

Diversity & Inclusion Director
Defines the specific goals of the chapter’s brand-new Diversity & Inclusion Initiative, and creates strategies and tactics in order to help achieve them.

Communications Director
Ultimately responsible for the public image and voice of the chapter, through managing the Marketing, Content, and Social Media committees. Directly oversees Communications Co-Directors.

Communications Co-Directors
Assists the Communications Director in managing the Marketing, Content, and Social Media committees. Different Communications Co-Directors may have specific focuses.

Marketing Director
Ensures our events and initiatives are successfully promoted to our members and the public by overseeing the chapter website, email blasts, social networks, press releases, print collateral, and additional marketing and communication efforts.

Membership Director
Facilitates membership growth and retention by directing new membership campaigns, supporting active and prospective members, and actively recruiting new members.

Media Director
Responsible for assigning photographers and videographers to events and initiatives, as well as maintaining the chapter digital archives.

Content Co-Director
Assists the Content Director in the development of unique written and digital content for the chapter including podcasts, videos, ebooks/printed books, etc. Directs content development volunteers.

Development Director
Facilitates opportunities for organizations to partner with chapter events and activities. Directly manages Development Co-Directors.

Development Co-Directors
Aids the Development Director in acquiring partnerships with likeminded organizations.  Oversees specific sponsorships and ensures receipt of related benefits.

Education Director
Liaises between the chapter and local student groups, re-establishes a chapter scholarship program, and oversees the annual Student Portfolio Day event.

Advisory Board Members
Provide counsel to the executive committee and aid the Board of Directors in executing chapter initiatives. It is preferred but not required that advisory board members have prior experience volunteering for AIGA.

How to Submit a Nomination

To nominate yourself or someone else, please prepare a PDF document with the following information, and email it to nominations@aigalosangeles.org.

  • Nominee’s name and nominated position
  • A resumé or CV highlights and brief bio
  • A short statement (200 words) describing why he/she would make a valuable board member
  • Two references
  • Letter of recommendations are encouraged
