Presentations will be presented showing how designers are key to the change in this world and how strategic design thinking is crucial to sustaining the human race.  Beginning with influences from the entertainment industry and such creative forces such as Saul Bass, Los Angeles design has been at the forefront of this wave, stressing effective storytelling that separates great brands from the mediocre.

John Clark – Founder of Looking 
“Touch Everything: The Explosion of Graphic Design.”

John is founder of Looking, an interdisciplinary design studio involved in two dimensional, three dimensional  and new media design. He is past Department Chairman for Communication Design, Art Center(Europe), and an instructor at Art Center College of Design and  Otis College of Art and Design. Previously he was Vice President of Cross Associates, Los Angeles, a designer with Büro Rolf Müller für visuelle Kommunikation, Munich, and a co-founder of  The GNU Group, Houston and Sausalito.

Stan Evenson – CEO and Creative Director / Evenson Design Group
“Saul Bass: The Man, The Mark, The Legacy”

From initially designing album covers for rock and roll and jazz greats such as Peter Frampton, Steve Miller, Tom Petty, Joe Cocker, Tina Turner and the late Dave Brubeck, Stan has continued to successfully build brands for NFL’s New England Patriots, Honda, Epson, Apple, Toyota, Disney, Fox, Universal Studios, Warner Brothers and USC’s Shoah Foundation. Stan is honored to have had two design pieces selected to be in the Permanent Collection of the Library of Congress among his countless design and creative direction awards over the years.

Petrula Vrontikis – Creative Director and Owner / Vrontikis Design Office
“The Future Is Where We Started”

Petrula Vrontikis is a designer, author and educator, based in Los Angeles, California. Since 1989, she has taught senior graphic design studies at Art Center College of Design. In 2007, she received the AIGA Los Angeles Fellows Award honoring her as an essential voice raising the understanding of design within the industry and among the business and cultural communities
