Michael Doret: Inspiration, Influence & Iconic Letterforms

Michael Doret started up his foundry Alphabet Soup with digital script typefaces and endless ways to emulate hand-lettering. Michael Doret is a household name in the design world, producing iconic designs for the likes of The New York Knicks, KISS and TIME Magazine. Having learned the trade under the guidance of Ed Benguiat, he has been a one-man force in lettering and logotype design since the mid ’70s.

He discovered that from the humble beginnings of his career up to the present, certain forces and their environments have influenced his work—both directly and indirectly. Come and be part of a thoughtful conversation where Michael Doret reveals the sum total of his conscious and subconscious influences.
